Stage 5: Vittel - La planche des belles filles Update

Italian champion Fabio Aru today emerged as a clear challenger for the overall victory with a punchy victory on the first mountain top finish of this years Tour. His attack in the final few kilometres went unmatched, allowing Aru to solo his way to the summit of La Planche des Belles Filles. Daniel Martin was the strongest of the chase group, coming in second place 16 seconds back, with Chris Froome and Richie Porte a further 4 seconds back.

Unable to stick with the hot pace of the leaders, Geraint Thomas lost his yellow jersey, and gives it to his team leader Froome.
